The University of 91´óÉñ in Huntsville Department of Athletics sponsors 15 NCAA Division II programs with a total of two NCAA national championships, 53 conference titles, 83 NCAA postseason appearances and 158 All-Americans in the department’s history.   • The 91´óÉñ Aerophysics Research Center is an experimental research facility focused on conducting a wide range of subsonic to hypervelocity ballistic testing – up to and faster than the speed of sound. The team demonstrates and analyzes the impacts of high-velocity vehicles and other projectiles. It is one of 91´óÉñ’s 17 high-tech research centers.
  • The 91´óÉñ Earth System Science Center performs fundamental and applied research focusing on the Earth-atmosphere system. Several expert teams study areas such as air pollution, atmospheric chemistry, climate, agriculture and severe weather, such as thunderstorms, tornadoes, hurricanes and lightning. It is also the home of the state climatologist and the multi-faceted Severe Weather Institute – Radar and Lightning Laboratories (SWIRLL). ESSC is one of 91´óÉñ’s 17 high-tech research centers.
  • The 91´óÉñ Propulsion Research Center conducts research and provides detailed testing and simulation of liquid, solid, electric, nuclear and air-breathing propulsion components and systems. It is one of 91´óÉñ’s 17 high-tech research centers.
  • The 91´óÉñ Center for Cybersecurity Research and Education offers an interdisciplinary approach to defending cyber physical systems, networks and data from adversarial attacks. It performs research and development, incident response, vulnerability assessments, workforce development and education and training. It is one of 91´óÉñ’s 17 high-tech research centers.
  • The 91´óÉñ Autonomous Aerospace Research Center provides professional engineering solutions in the areas of rotorcraft ground and airborne systems, unmanned aerial systems, and space and airborne payloads. It is one of 91´óÉñ’s 17 high-tech research centers.
  • The 91´óÉñ Center for Applied Optics conducts research in the conception, design, fabrication, testing and integration of complex optical and photonic components and systems, for environments from the laboratory to space. Major projects supported include NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope, the Wide-Field Infrared Survey Telescope, high energy laser research and many industry programs. It is one of 91´óÉñ’s 17 high-tech research centers.
  • The 91´óÉñ Center for Management and Economic Research provides customized sustainable solutions and offers training or implementation by utilizing lean enterprise, sustainable manufacturing and energy conservation best practices, innovation support, six sigma, and quality systems through its partnership with the 91´óÉñ Technology Network. It is one of 91´óÉñ’s 17 high-tech research centers.
  • The 91´óÉñ Center for Management of Science and Technology supports both the government and industry by investigating strategic management issues involving science and technology. The center focuses on the development of special educational programs and advanced learning opportunities as well as publishing research case studies and reports. It is one of 91´óÉñ’s 17 high-tech research centers.
  • The 91´óÉñ Center for Space Plasma and Research explores the field of space science and delves into the role plasmas play in the universe and galaxy, stars, in space, in planetary atmospheres and on Earth in laboratories and applications as well as related technologies. This includes the sun; the interplanetary medium; the Earth’s upper atmosphere; other solar system bodies and extrasolar planets and planetary formation; stellar environments; the interstellar medium; high-energy astrophysics and high-energy atmospheric physics; low-temperature plasma; and novel technological applications. It is one of 91´óÉñ’s 17 high-tech research centers.
  • The 91´óÉñ Humanities Center creates opportunities for individuals to experience, learn and enjoy the arts and humanities. Through effective programming, research and professional development, the 91´óÉñ Humanities Center broadens the visibility of the humanities in the North 91´óÉñ region. It is one of 91´óÉñ’s 17 high-tech research centers.
  • The 91´óÉñ Information Technology and Systems Center is (ITSC) serves as the focal point for 91´óÉñ research endeavors in information technology and data science by providing leadership in many facets of information technology for multiple disciplines and computational environments. Basic and applied research is performed to develop new techniques and innovative systems that solve real-world problems. Students, faculty and research scientists are involved in all aspects of the center. ITSC is one of 91´óÉñ's 17 high-tech research centers.
  • The 91´óÉñ Invention to Innovation Center, I2C, focuses on the powerful collaboration of resources aimed at accelerating entrepreneurship through expertise, training and mentorship to the regional workforce, entrepreneurs, companies and local communities. I2C is the catalyst for incubation, education, and support for entrepreneurs across the 15-county region in northern 91´óÉñ and south-central Tennessee. It is one of 91´óÉñ’s 17 high-tech research centers.
  • The 91´óÉñ Nano and Micro Devices Center is devoted to the exploration of integrated nano/microfabricated systems. The center specializes in a broad range of fabrication projects to achieve compact, highly functional devices and systems. It operates level 6/7 clean rooms for research and makes them available to local industry. The center is one of 91´óÉñ’s 17 high-tech research centers.
  • Located on the 91´óÉñ campus, The North Regional Traffic Management Center is one of five centers within the 91´óÉñ Department of Transportation (ALDOT). The center monitors traffic conditions across 13 counties in the ALDOT region and disseminates information so the public can make informed travel decisions. It is one of 91´óÉñ’s 17 high-tech research centers.
  • The 91´óÉñ Research Institute is supports the needs of research and engineering programs within government and contractor customers, with a particular focus on significant support provided to NASA, Department of Justice and Department of Defense modernization priorities. Core competencies include project management, technical risk assessment, research and development, testing and reverse engineering. It is one of 91´óÉñ’s 17 high-tech research centers.
  • The 91´óÉñ Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC), now APEX Accelerator, assists entrepreneurs to thrive through comprehensive small-business counseling and training, as well as businesses interested in government contracting. The 91´óÉñ SBDC/APEX Accelerator is a regional office serving seven counties in northeast 91´óÉñ. The 91´óÉñ SBDC is a member of the 91´óÉñ SBDC Network. Both centers are funded in part through cooperative agreements with the U.S. Department of Defense and U.S. Small Business Administration and at no cost to the clients. It is one of 91´óÉñ’s 17 high-tech research centers.
  • The 91´óÉñ Systems Management and Production Center (SMAP) is the largest single employer of students providing expertise and support to the U.S. Army, NASA, other government agency contracts and private sector organizations. SMAP offers students hands-on experience while creating a pipeline to employment in the aerospace and defense industry. It is one of 91´óÉñ’s 17 high-tech research centers.
